It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yippee-Ky-Yay MutherFu*kers, and to all a good night!
If there is a better movie set for the festive season than Die Hard, I have yet to see. In terms of sheer awesomeness, the only thing that comes close are The Muppet Family Christmas and The Muppet Christmas Carol. Hell, I’m even willing to overlook the fact that the last two Die Hards took place in the summertime. They are all great, and a family tradition around these parts.
Speaking of family traditions, we have a bit of news from around the offices of No Reason. As you may have noticed, things around here have been a little inconsistent lately in terms of updates. There’s no reason for this save the fact that life gets in the way sometimes, and without going into too much detail, life has been busy getting in the way these last few months.
In talking about this, we realized that at some point in the last 6 months or so, No Reason lost something for us. It became something that wasn’t rooted in the same fun, creative partnership and friendship it once was. This is not to say that Jamie and I had a falling out, or are in any way less close or stoked about working together. It’s just become a matter of both of our lives changing and evolving as life does.
So, Jaime and I had a long discussion about life, the universe and everything and where we wanted to take the strip. Ideas ranging from different artists and writers stepping in here and there, to stopping the strip all together were put on the table. I don’t say that to indicate that we are stopping the comic, just that we have talked about all possibilities.
In the end though, we decided that something had to change. It’s about taking us back to that place we were when we first started this comic. Rediscovering the friendship and laughs that 20 years and 500 miles could never harm in the first place. In order to do that though, we, Jaime and Myself, have decided to scale back No Reason a bit, and keep the strip to one comic a week.
I think we are at a good place story-wise to do this, and already we’ve got some great stuff planned. Putting up a new strip every Wednesday is the goal, and I am excited to do it. I am excited to see what this new, shall we say expanded, time we’ve given ourselves to prepare and present these comics will bring. I know that I’m already changing the way I approach things, and it’s having some great results.
So, to sum up: We are here. And we will be here for as long as you are. The format or quantity of a fun comic strip isn’t what makes it fun. It’s the love and silliness that gets poured into those panels that shines though, and I know as long as you are here to enjoy it with us, the love and silliness will know no bounds.
For example: All this time, in this avatar I’m not wearing any pants. And that’s pretty darn silly.
