So, it’s a sad time to be a tech junkie right now. As I’m sure you’ve heard, Apple CEO and shot-caller Steve Jobs passed away. Jobs had been sick and frail-looking for quite some time and had recently stepped down as CEO due to health concerns, but I think that no one was really prepared for how quickly he was gone.
Tributes and kind words are pouring in from all over the world about Jobs and as I look at my iPad, answer a message on my iPhone and type this very post on my MacBook, it’s fair to say he had a pretty big impact on my life as well.
Jobs and Apple have excelled at taking powerful technology and turning it into functional and intuitive products that are easy to use, no matter if you are a savvy programmer who loves to get into the guts of computers, or just a casual e-mail checker and web surfer. That even includes my parents who love the simplicity of their iPad and iPhone.
Who knows what else might have come out of the mind of Steve Jobs had he not died so young (he really was, he was only 56). I can say this though, my faith in the company he built and guided is not shaken by his passing. His legacy will continue to inspire and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
In the meantime though, so long Steve, and thanks for everything. Including making turtlenecks cool again.
