Wow what a great game! And I don’t just say that because my team won. The Saints/Colts Superbowl was an awesome game full of ups and downs, lead changes, and big hits and misses. It was everything that a good Superbowl should be. Great teams, with a close score, and of course my team winning.

And for those of you wondering: Yes, the nachos lived up to their billing. As did the meatballs, spring rolls, blanketed pigs, and cake. God, I love the Superbowl.

In other news though, I’ve been ransacking my guest bedroom to prepare for a visit from my Parents this weekend. In doing so, I’ve come to the delightful realization that all those awesome action figures, Transformers, and other such collectibles that I’ve had packed away in boxes finally have a place to go! I have a huge bookcase for them to reside in, and so I’ve been tearing through boxes finding the worthiest pieces for display.

I have a lot of toys.

Hopefully all will be in order by the time Ma & Pa arrive though, and I will also have freed up some much needed closet space.

Finally, I’ve heard some rather unsettling rumors about the plot and direction that the forthcoming Captain America movie is going to take. I can understand a directors need to put their stamp on things, but Captain America is one who’s story is so simple that it really doesn’t need to be tweaked.

I fear that they are doing it so that the character and the movie won’t come off as “American.” I know that sounds silly, this is Captain America we’re taking about here, but with worldwide box office numbers being as important as they are, I am afraid they will dull down the character in order to make the movie more globally appealing.

You can say what you want about America, but when it comes to the story of Steve Rogers, and his taking up a shield and doing what’s right, it goes beyond simple patriotism. It’s about a character that wants to stand up for the weak, fight against tyranny, and have the bravery to die doing it. It doesn’t matter that it’s a Red, White, and Blue uniform, it’s a character we can all get behind, and that’s what the focus of the movie should be.

Sometimes when something isn’t broken, you really, really don’t need to go fixing it.
