So, I didn’t quite make it through everything on my “Stuff I Gotta Read” list that I had mentioned on Friday. But I did my darndest. Here’s what I managed to get through:

Whiteout – Oy, this was tough. It wasn’t that it was boring, or even poorly written, it was the format. The format of the book was very small and in black and white, and it made it difficult to get into. I think the movie might be better.

Irredeemable Vol. 1 – What happens when the world’s greatest hero decides he wants to be the world’s greatest villain? A lot of cool stuff, I can tell you that! While a little predictable, this was a great book, and I’m eagerly awaiting Vol. 2

Down – A story of a detective gone wrong. Not a bad book, but not Ellis’ best work

Revelations – I was really enjoying this book, the art is outstanding, and the concept is brilliant. Then it tool kind of a left turn at the end that I did not see coming. That can be a good thing, but I’m not sure how I feel about it in this case.

Powers: Who Killed Retro Girl? – I can see why people are hardcore into this series. Once you remember that Bendis tends to write in 2-page spreads, its easy to get into. It’s light crime-fiction with a superhero twist, which I dig!

Superman: Red Son – Now I know that most people love this book, but I was finding myself thinking that it was pretty banal… right up until the end when the twist brought a huge grin to my face and had me saying “oh yeah!” out loud to no one in particular. Outstanding work from Mark Millar.

I also managed to work in a few that I had read before like Old Man Logan, and the stunning new edition of Batman: A Death In The Family.

All that, and there’s still more to go. I would have gotten more done, but I spent most of the weekend cleaning and plotting. Not “Take Over The World” plotting (that’s already in motion), but No Reason plotting. The New Year is going to be fun… ☺
