There we go! All better! I drink a lot of coffee. A lot.
So my first full day as a shop owner has come and gone, and I can tell you this: there are a LOT of comic books out there. I know this because today, I shelved, sorted and counted about 1,000 of them only to come to the conclusion that we needed more.
That’s right, my initial order at the store barely covered half the shelves! We needed to make a second order, almost as big as the first, just to make sure the shelf space was covered.
That said, I think that empty shelves are going to be something that we have to deal with a lot in the future. The shop looks amazing. Sohmer and Kevin took a huge amount of time and managed to sculpt, and I use that term very specifically, sculpt a beautiful space that is both comfortable and modern. Think the Apple Store, but with all the best and brightest in comics. I cannot wait to get the doors open on this thing.
I also spent the evening scouring the city looking for suitable living spaces. I can say this about the places in Montreal: you certainly get your money’s worth for the space you get. Most of the places I saw were actually too big, to the point I’d have to buy more furniture to fill the place out! They’re nice places though, and when you find one that doesn’t reek of smoke, it certainly is easy to envision as a home.
All right, off to bed now. Tomorrow brings the first order from Diamond, and the long awaited Red Bull fridge!!
