Man, narration is hard.
It’s Wednesday, which means I’m struggling to find things to write about. It’s not that I don’t have news, in fact I got some news today that’s going to change everything… I just can’t talk about it yet.
So, I find myself with not much else to say. Has that ever happened to you? You have something that you really want to talk about, but can’t, so you try to talk about other things, but of course the only thing on your mind is the one thing that you can’t talk about!
Man, secrets (like narration) are hard.
But I shall soldier on. Did you see that Disney bought Marvel? Yeah, it seems they have $4 Billion lying around, and decided to buy up Captain America and Co. As usual, the internet exploded with fanboy-freakouts, and people claiming the end of Marvel as we know it.
We go in-depth on in on this week’s episode of The Watchtower, but in my opinion, this is going to be a very good thing for comics. Marvel now has the same kind of financial backing that it’s rival DC has (DC is owned by Time Warner) and hopefully that can lead to them taking some chances that might not have been viable before. Plus, being on the Disney payroll can only improve the quality of Marvel’s animation and television properties, and, like the comics, lead to chances being taken that normally wouldn’t.
I don’t think that this merger will lead to the cancellation of Marvel’s MAX line or more adult titles the way that some people are speculating. Disney bought Marvel at a hugely inflated price which says to me they bought it because they liked what they had to offer, and it doesn’t make sense to make sweeping changes.
At the very least though, I am very much looking forward to “Civil War II: The Mouse Strikes Back” and “World War Donald.” Also, I wonder if we can settle the age old question: If Pluto is a dog, what the hell is Goofy? Obviously he’s a Skrull. A damn dirty Skrull…
