It really is the little surprises that make life worth living. Be it a phone call or e-mail from an old friend, or perhaps a financial windfall in the vein of a game of Monopoly. Hell, even finding out that your $20 laptop mouse works with your new Mac. It’s the little things.
Not to go without note are the the larger things of course. I should mention that the wedding that Jamie and I both attended this past weekend was an absolute blast. The food was great, the speeches and ceremony were wonderful, and there was even some dancing. Fortunately, no one caught THAT on film. But a great time was had by all.
That said, I’m not going to be sad to put away the ol’ suit and tie for another year. At least until I lose some size around the neck region. The tie is becoming a little constricting.
In other news, the San Diego Comicon is fast approaching. This event is always the pinnacle of the Geek-Calendar, and this year looks to be no exception. I imagine we’ll see some new information on the likes of Iron Man 2, some big comic announcements as to the next big events for both major companies, and probably a whole smattering more. Over 500,000 people are involved in Comicon as attendees or industry professionals.
I’ve always wanted to go, and one day I’m sure I will. For now though, it’s probably best that I stay away. My wallet can’t handle the exclusives. From sketch-cover comics, to 12-inch action figures, to an exclusive Soundwave and a full set of Blackest Night Hal Jordan figures, I’m sure I’d need a bank loan to make it out of there.
If you are there though, have fun. Be on the lookout for Booth 1435. Contained within it, you will find a large man who gives excellent hugs and a shiny-headed fellow who has replaced most of his blood with pure Red Bull. Approach with caution… observing these animals in the wild, while rewarding, can be a dangerous (and hilarious) pursuit!
