Those Things Are Operational!
By Jeff Moss & Dan Simon

You know, there have been some dark times in my life. Some times when I was unsure of what to do, or the choices I had to make. It was a great comfort to me to know that the Admiral had my back. He was always there to let me know if I was on the wrong path, to warn me of the dangers of life’s traps.

Thank you, Admiral Ackbar. Thank you.

Now for something completely different. The E3 conference has been on this week, and the best of the newest in gaming has been on spotlight. It’s the San Diego Comicon of the gaming world, and the big nut this year seems to be Microsoft’s Project Natal for the Xbox.

As I understand it, Natal is something akin to a system of sensors that captures your motion and literally puts you in the game, kicking and swatting and fighting against computerized opponents. Like the Eye Toy for the PS2, but about a million times better.

Long-time gamers seem to be split on how good the Natal will be, but I think it’s fantastic. Granted, I also think that video gaming achieved perfection with the N64, but anything encourages kids to get up off the couch while enjoying their favourite games gets 2 thumbs up from me.

My biggest beef with video games is that I simply don’t have the attention span to sit and figure out some of the more in-depth and complicated games. But to actually be “in” one? That would be interesting.

I can only imagine the Guitar Hero attachments…
