Design Flaws

If there is one creature on the planet that embodies No Reason, it has to be the noble Platypus. Part duck, part beaver, and part penguin, the very existence of this majestic animal is without reason. Something I did not realize is that the platypus is actually a venomous creature. The venom is not lethal to humans, but can kill smaller creatures like dogs. This tells me that the Platypus was probably originally conceived as the ultimate killing machine, a project that was probably abandoned for budgetary reasons.

A few notes today. First off, I want to mention that the all-new No Reason Store is moving closer and closer to being a reality. There’s just a couple bugs that need to be worked out, and then it’ll be up and running! What’s cool about this iteration of the store is that it allows us to have a lot more control over type/style of merch we put out, so if you have any ideas or things you would like to see, please hit us up!

I’ve been listening to Green Day’s latest record, 21st Century Breakdown a lot lately. Those guys have perfected pop-punk, and redefined the concept album. American Idiot was pretty good, but this takes them to a whole new level. Bands also not to be missed: The Getaway Plan and Saw Wheel. Awesome stuff.

It kind of bums me out to go into record stores these days. Not only has the size of the actual music section shrunk considerably, making way for DVDs and Video Games, but as a result the selection has become downright pitiful. It’s disheartening because there are a lot of people who are looking for music outside the top 40, and dying to be challenged by something new and fresh, but it’s getting so hard to find it. There was a time when you could go into a record store and discover new stuff simply by browsing, or by talking with the staff about their favourite picks. You can do that on the net now, but it’s just not the same.

Ah well, just another sign I’m getting older I suppose.

By the way, if you didn’t see my in-depth Terminator: Salvation review, you can check it out here. In other news, I am happy to report that Star Trek is just as awesome the second time around.

    Platypi are sexy.

I guess so? They’re such a weird looking animal. But, then again – there are lots of weird animals out there. Like Emu’s.

  3. funkyprtyweasel says:

Emu’s aren’t that wierd. Swordfish are wierd. Hammerhead sharks also!
