And let me just add:

“#&@*#& #$*@&& (*&%$# @%$ &@^@^ !”

And I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

So last weekend as I’m sure you are all aware was Free Comic Book Day! We piled into the car and went out to our home away from home, Image Collections in Streetsville.

In spite of the high winds and occasional spittle of rain, it was a damn fine day. Todd and the crew once again put together a great afternoon for everyone, filled with signings, food, discussion groups, and of course Free Comics!

I think that it’s safe to say that DC won Free Comic Book Day this year. Their Blackest Night #0 offering was the coolest book I picked up, has me totally jazzed for July when The Blackest Night officially kicks off. I think DC has finally learned a thing or two though, as they promise that there will only be 5 Blackest Night books a month, and if they can get them out on time it should make for a hell of a story. It seems much more controlled than their previous “event” books.

Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day Avengers book was a great read as well, and I really liked what the crew from Alterna Comics put out. It was also great to see so many kids out to the comic store, but the most fun book for folks my age had to be the re-printing of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1. It’s the 25th anniversary of the Heroes on The Half Shell and it was really cool to see them back in their ultra-violent, black and white glory.

OK, I have to get out of here. I have a very special Mother’s Day gift to wrap up for my Ma. She’s a reader though (yep, my Mom thinks I’m cool… kinda) so I’ll post pictures if it as soon as I give it to her. It’s pretty rad though. Pretty rad indeed..
