It’s true. Some days it’s hard to read. On the bright side, Stephen King will have no trouble finding his next tale of technologically-induced horror.
OK, so some days this whole blogging thing comes really easily, and others are a bit of a stretch. I don’t know if it’s the 700km round trip I drove this past weekend, or the 1600km round trip that I face next weekend, but my brain has shut down. So, I’m going to somewhat re-use a topic that I Vlogged about on The Watchtower Site.
For those of you that saw Watchmen, but are new to the world of graphic novels, DC Comics has set up a really cool website called AFTERWATCHMEN.COM
If you saw Watchmen, and are wondering what other great graphic novels are out there that you might be interested in, this site provides you with a downloadable checklist of stuff to pick up in your local bookstore, or online.
Now, since Watchmen is a DC property, obviously all the books on the list are also DC books. Maybe I’ll do a Marvel/Other list up for Thursday’s post. But for now, we’ll stick to DC.
The AFTERWATCHMEN.COM list includes:
Preacher: The tale of Jesse Custer, whiskey-drinkin’, bar-fightin’ Texas Preacher who is on a mission to find The Lord Himself and make him answer for all of humanity’s ills. Oh, he’s also got a God-like power of his own. And an Irish Vampire as a best friend. Classic.
Y: The Last Man: What would you do if you were the last man on Earth? After a mysterious plague wipes out all the men, Yorrick Brown (and his pet Monkey) find out!
V For Vendetta: Another Alan Moore-penned movie, but the book is a much more enriched story. Like Watchmen, they had to streamline things a bit for the film, and I would personally put this as my favourite of Alan Moore’s works, next to Watchmen itself.
So there you have it. There are about 30 books on the list, and the good thing about these books is that they are considered “classic” enough that they are easy to find at one’s local bookstore or online.
So go! Read! There will be a test…
