Yes… well, let’s just be thankful that it was only gas. I’ve learned a lesson with this little event: Never leave a note when you eat someone else’s latkes. Never.

So as you may have surmised, I have been gone these last few days. Myself and the crew from Least I Could Do / Looking For Group headed down to New York City for the appropriately named New York Comicon.

It was an AMAZING trip. We were staying right down in Times Square, and I soaked up as much as the city had to offer. We saw a Broadway show, and the citizens of New York were wonderful hosts.

The Comicon was pretty amazing too. Pretty much anyone who was anyone in comics was there, and I met so many incredible writers and artists. Georges Jeanty (Buffy), Dexter Vines (Wolverine: Old Man Logan), Fred Van Lente (Comic Book Comics), Dennis Calero (X Men Noir), and so many other people in the industry were nice enough to chat with me both on and off the record.

The highlight was meeting so many folks in the upper echelons of comicdom who were positively wonderful people. Tom Brevoort and C.B. Cebulski over at Marvel were great guys, Gabe and Tycho of Penny Arcade were a total blast, but my favourite was finally getting a chance to talk face to face with someone that I have admired for a very long time, Terry Moore.

The very best part of it all though was the few folks who turned up at the Blind Ferret booth to tell me that they liked The Watchtower and No Reason. Being my first con not on home turf, it was incredible to meet you guys and know that you’re out there.

A close second was spending such a great time with Lar, Ryan, Nick, and Randy, the men behind the madness that is Blind Ferret. I can’t thank you dudes enough for all the help you’ve given (personally and professionally), and for such a great time in New York. We better damn well make it an annual event.

Finally, being around all the talent and excitement at the con also gave me a few neat ideas as to what we can do to take No Reason to the next level as 2009 rolls out. This is the time to dig in and hold on with both hands folks, because the ride is about to begin…

In the meantime though, you can check out the rest of my NYCC pics here.
