Hullo!
Just a note: the comic will be up later today. I kind of fell asleep on the couch last night after running around most of the early evening trying to find particular Hot Wheels tracks. It was an ordeal, let me tell you. Only I can’t, because my Mom always said, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. *Glares ruefully at WalMart*
That being said, I just want to prepare you for some downtime. As soon as I find a block of time in the next week, I’ll be running the update for Wordpress 2.7 – which means I’ll also have to run upgrades on plugins, backup databases and update the theme as well. I’m hoping our downtime will be limited to about four hours, at the most. I’ll update this post with a particular time when I know it will happen.
I will as well be trying to fix the forums – I’ve given up on BBpress, as they are now fully two versions behind Wordpress. Simple:Press forums seems to be the easiest option to go with – but I’ve also seen people having a desire to use SMF. If anyone has any feedback regarding this, I’ve got open ears.
Also – recently a comment was made to me about the design of the characters, and I thought I’d put it out there to get your feedback. I was told that the way I draw the noses for No Reason is ‘weird’ and ‘off-putting’ – so I’m considering giving these guys I bit of a make over. Is there something you like about these guys? something you don’t? anything’s open. I’ll try and make any design switches gradual. Once we get the forums up and working, we can start doing some character design feedback stuff too.

I really don’t think anything with their noses is wrong. Hell, it’s a lot better than what I can draw… (oooh stick figures). If you want to make changes, I’m all for it, just do what YOU want.

The comment was made because the way I draw them, they look ‘upturned’. But I’m looking for any other feedback you guys might have – you know we’re always looking for ways to improve the comic. If you wanted to see more of a character, or you don’t care for the way I do backgrounds, or even if you want us to update more frequently.
I’d just like to hear the readers thoughts at this time…
Now that you mention it, I can see how people would think they’re ‘upturned.’ I always just viewed them as a minimalistic form. Noses are weird things and can be hard to do accurately. Which is why I don’t draw them. As far as character presence, I’d have to say I’m pretty happy with it all, backgrounds are good in my book. As for the frequency, all web comic readers wish that their favorite comics would update more frequently. To the point of insanity. It’s nice when it happens sooner, but I don’t NEED it.
I think the noses look fine. Better than the ridiculously pointy ones on anime/manga characters…
