Poof! Part I
By Jeff Moss & Dan Simon

Cliffhangers are even more cliffhanger-y when you introduce an element of magic, wouldn’t you say? Also, I like goats.

Happy Obama-Day Everyone!

I think that the momentous occasion that is today’s Presidential Inauguration will probably not go unnoticed by many. In fact, I think it’s safe to say that this is one of those times when the world will probably pause and take in a bit of history. I know that many schools will be carrying the event live, and I think that’s fantastic. I have no idea what kind of President Barack Obama is going to be, but his impact on comic book sales alone has him getting a big thumbs-up from me.

So, I have a bit of an announcement that has to with me and any of our friends who are in the New York area. The ticket has been bought, the paperwork has be filed, and come February 5th I will be off to New York City and the New York Comicon!

I’ll be there mainly in a Watchtower capacity, getting all the goods from those in the know, but don’t be shocked if some No Reason business gets attended to as well. If you are in the area, or planning to attend the NYCC, look me up! I’ll be wandering about with a tape recorder, or hanging out at the Blind Ferret booth, who are being kind enough to take in this wayward stray for a couple nights.

This is also a pretty big deal because to be honest, I’ve never really been anywhere. A couple of family trips to the coast as a kid, but that’s about it. I’ve never been on a commercial airline, and I’m pretty excited about the whole deal.

Although, I will have to get Jamie to explain to me what exactly the “Mile High Club” is. I mean, do I have to pay extra for that? Is there a cover or something?

What is the best way for me to say I am jealous without sounding petty?

    I hate you.

  2. Jamie says:

    ‘I hate you’ works.

  3. Completely off-topic, but what do you guys think about the Patriots playing in London next season? I ask, because tickets have just gone on sale (about 38 minutes ago).

  4. Murph says:

I think it’s awesome, in that it raises the profile of the sport. However, I also think it’s balls that you guys get to see The Pats before I do!!!

They’re playing in New Orleans this coming season. A road trip may be in order…

  5. Jamie says:

Getting him a passport does not seem to have given him an understanding of geography. He flies to New York, but he wants to drive to New Orleans.

  6. lol at the idea of a 4,000 km road trip. :)

I love the idea of the NFL bringing games over here, but I can see why American fans would be so upset about it. I do think if it continues to be supported, we’ll end up with an extra game in the schedule (and 1 or 2 less pre-season games).

I’m a lot happier that tickets are cheaper this year (anywhere from £30 for restricted view end-zone tickets to £140 for top-end tickets).

In 2007 we paid £70 for end zone tickets right at the lowest possible point (guys above us were catching K-balls from field goals where they were too slow to get the nets up in time). Then, on the way to the game we met some Dolphins fans who had much better seats and had paid $30 (USD). :(

I think a lot of fans in the US don’t realise how hardcore a lot of UK fans (and German fans especially) are. When they have a game in the States at prime time, it ends anywhere between 4.30 and 5.30 AM over here. And then we get up 90 minutes later to go to work.

Jaysis. At least we only have to do that once every few years for the World Cup lol.

  8. Jamie says:

It’s not all that bad. It’s only actually about 2084 km.

  9. Jamie, it’s 2084km there, but I’m assuming you’d want to come back too… ;)

(Apologies for the slooooow reply. I’ve been stuck in the middle of nowhere for the last week with no internet access)

  10. Jamie says:

True. true. you win this round. *shakes fist* Although, perhaps once down there, I might decide that I want to stay…

Speaking of New Orleans – if you haven’t heard Daniel Tosh’s Comedy album… go find it and listen. Hilarious stuff.
