Thought Processors
By Jeff Moss & Dan Simon

Out of curiosity, has anyone managed to stick to their New Year’s Resolutions this far into 2009? I find that it’s usually around the 2-week mark that they begin to die their slow, agonizing deaths. Fortunately this year, I didn’t make any resolutions, specifically so that I didn’t have to witness their slow demise. I’m good like that.

My friend Ryan recently returned my well-worn copy of Watchmen, so in honour of the movie probably never coming out, I thought I’d give it a re-read. It amazes me how well it still stands up over time. There are very few “classic” graphic novels that hold up as well as Watchmen. The Dark Knight Returns and Bone come to mind, but aside from that none really retain that original excitement of reading them the way Watchmen does.

I’m even trying to read it the way you’re “supposed” to, which is one chapter a night. Even knowing how it ends, I still feel the tension and mystery in it. I don’t know if the movie is going to be any good, visually it looks incredible, but I’ve heard some of the concessions they’ve had to make with the story. I trust Zach Snyder for the most part though, and hopefully it can still retain that great Watchmen feeling.

Hey! My senseless badgering of you masses has resulted in the sale of a few more copies of No Reason #0! I think it would be practically irresponsible of me not to keep it up, so DO IT. C’mon, do it. It’s as easy as clicking the button over there, and boom! A few keystrokes later you have a copy rushing towards you (I promise)! You know you wanna…

Any way, there are a couple other cool things happening around here in the next few weeks, but I’ll save that for when I have some more information and details, and also for when there isn’t a gnawing pain behind my eyes. I think I need to lie down.

Be good… or the bunny gets it.

I’m not sure if you’re into manga or not, but I would highly recommend Monster. I believe all 18 volumes have already been translated into English.

The anime has also been released for it, but I don’t think it’s been licensed in North America yet.

I think of the two of us, I’m the only one that will actively invest much time in anime – and my investments are pretty haphazard. It’s usually just trying to catch episodes of Avatar and Astroboy. But thanks for the heads up. I might just go take a look.
