But Where’s Pooky?

If you haven’t checked out Garfield Minus Garfield yet, I highly recommend you do so. I grew up reading Garfield strips and books, and I never realized that by simply removing the cat, you have a strip about one man’s decent into madness. It’s sheer brilliance, and as a long-time reader, it’s fun to try and figure out if I’ve read the particular strips in their original form or not. But, it does raise the question: When you take a Garfield out, where does it go? Well friends, as always, the answer is… well, you get the idea.

So it’s the 4th of July, and I want to extend a warm Happy Independence Day to our friends in the south. Canada Day is always a lot of fun up here, but you guys take it to the next level when it comes to the 4th. I understand the weather is going to be great, so get on out and celebrate!

I know that this summer is supposed to belong to The Dark Knight, but I gotta say, Hellboy II is looking mighty good. I always felt that Hellboy was an underrated flick, especially in it’s directors cut version. There’s just something so compelling about the world of Hellboy. It’s just so darn weird, which as you can imagine, appeals to people who are slightly of kilter like myself.

I can’t believe what a good Summer it’s been for Comic Book Movies, and movies in general. We’ve had Iron Man, Hulk, Indy, WALL-E and more. Still to come, The Dark Knight, Hancock, and the aforementioned Hellboy II. The good thing is that most of these flicks have been pretty decent. I don’t mind Hollywood flooding a market if its with good movies.

OK, it’s the weekend so I’m outta here. Whatever you do be safe and have fun!
