And a Happy Canada Day to all!!
Normally, we Canadians are a quiet and introspective people unless there’s a Hockey title on the line, but at the halfway point of the year we like to stand up and recognize our own greatness. That’s right for one day a year, we Canadians get to be the loud, obnoxious jerks we have always wanted to be! So join us in our jerkiness, and have a great day!
In other celebration news, it’s someone special in my life’s birthday and as a result, I am going to make an attempt at cooking! I can’t promise that it will go well, hell, I can’t even promise that everyone will survive, but damned if I’m not going to try! The weird thing is, I generally hate cooking. But for special occasions, I start to get into it and quite enjoy it. What can I say? I am a man of many layers, each richer and more complex than the last.
On to some sadder stuff. I mentioned this on The Watchtower page, but over the weekend Comics lost a legend. Michael Turner, artist behind Fathom, Witchblade and countless covers and other books passed away as a result of complications with bone cancer. Turner’s art often stirred up controversy, and he was not liked by some, but I enjoyed his sharp style, and no one can argue that he didn’t draw great comic-book pinups. His contribution to the world of comics was vast, and he will be missed.
OK, onto brighter things. It’s July, which officially means I can start pimping our next appearance! We are doing the Paradise Toronto ComiCON which runs July 12-13th in our fair city here. It’s a purely Comic Book-based convention, so if you are a fan of these printed panels, you should come and check it out! We’ll be there with some cool swag, and a major announcement, so stay tuned for details on both!
All right, I’m off to enjoy a Canada Day in the sun!
