You know truthfully, I could not be happier with these little conversations happen to us. “The Weird Things People Say To Us” strips are always favourites of mine. If we here at No Reason can’t point out the lack of reason in every day life, then what is it we are doing here? I mean really?
So here’s some fun news for everyone. I am the proud owner of a brand new peptic ulcer! Exciting, no? When I told Jamie he seemed to concerned, but let’s be honest. Given the dietary lifestyle I’ve lived, I was due. Any way, since I have a little thing growing in my belly, I thought it only fair to name it. Now some say you should name your first ulcer after an ex-girlfriend, or boss, or someone who has caused you stress of some kind, but that seems a little mundane for the likes of me. So I turn to you, dear readers. I proudly present:
The First Official No Reason Name That Ulcer Contest!!!
That’s right, post your best ideas below the strip, on the facebook group, or e-mail them to admin AT noreasoncomics DOT com. We’ll pick the best one and make the announcement in a couple weeks. The winner will be mailed their very own signed and numbered No Reason Carfighter print. Only 10 of these were made, so it’s a rare commodity. Also, prints are way easier to mail than t-shirts, so you can count on this prize being sent out with all due haste. I look forward to your submissions.
When I suggested this contest to Jamie, he just looked at me and said “…there is something really wrong with you.” He’s probably right, but the way I see it, if I can’t laugh at my ulcer, what can I laugh at? That, and I couldn’t give up the chance to put forward a contest like this. No other webcomic would do something like this, and while some would say that’s a good thing, I wear it with a badge of pride. No Reason: cutting edge, even when maybe we shouldn’t be.
All right, before I depart for what promises to be a great weekend, I want to point out that it is Canadian Music Week here in the burg of Toronto, and there are a ton of great bands playing in and around the city. If you are around The Rivoli on Friday night, you should check out our new friend Melissa Bel. She is a great singer/songwriter and a blast to listen to. Also, our pals in The Saint Alvia Cartel are playing a showcase at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern on Saturday night, and if you are in the area, you should definitely pop on by. These guys are a sight to behold, and you may even see a dude who looks a lot like me in the joint.
Take care, and may God have mercy on my soul,
-MM
