Since the newest Spider-Man storyline, One More Day/Brand New Day has made such a huge splash amongst the Comic faithful, I have been spending an inordinate amount of time on message boards gauging the reaction so that I could properly refute them during our next episode of The Watchtower. Quite frankly, I’m astonished.
Perhaps it is naive of me to assume that this is a new phenomenon, but I was aghast at the stupidity I encountered. I don’t spend a whole lot of time on message boards or in forums simply because large amounts ignorance give me a headache that is like being stabbed by needles all over my skull. I liken reading forums to watching people literally pull out their wedding tackle and gauge who’s is more impressive. Nobody listens, or discusses. It’s all about who gets there “first” or who can rock out the term “Noob” or my personal favourite, the inevitable reference to Nazis.
Come to think of it, it’s a lot like talk radio that way.
Any way, thankfully not a single post regarding One More Day/Brand New Day contained enough information to make me think that anyone had even read the book, let alone change my mind on it. For the record: It was awesome. One More Day may have had one of the most controversial (and lazy) endings in recent memory, but Brand New Day has paid off in spades. If you have never read a Spider-Man book, or have slipped in and out over the years, now is the time to jump on. This is a free Spider-Man. This is a Spider-Man like you have always thought he should be. Getting there was a bit of a kick in the nuts, but now that we are, I can’t wait to see what happens, and to see it happen 3 times a month no less!!!
On to other things, we have %95 got everything in order here at No Reason HQ 2.0. Most of our stuff was able to find a home in the new place, and once we get some pictures on the walls, books on the shelves, and odors in the couches, the place’ll really start to feel like ours. Next though is finding the thermostat because as I write this it’s about 4000 degrees in here. I don’t really want to have to put on shorts and open windows to avoid sweating in January.
Finally, we are almost up to 150 members in the No Reason Facebook group. This is significant because if you get in on it before it hits 150, you can officially say you were into No Reason before it was cool. Chances are, even after 150 you’ll still be able to claim that, but 150 was the number we picked, and we’re stickin’ to it!
That, and the couch thanks to the heat.
Peeling the day away,
-MM
